Moura Coal and Country festival shines again
September 11, 2025
Moura Coal and Country festival was once again a huge success in 2025. This year, the festival committee brought back the ball to mark the start of the week-long festival and had all of the classic events including the street festival, touch football competition, coal shovelling, roof bolting and tug of war. The coal shovelling and roof bolting competitions are unique events, and the festival is believed to be the last place in Australia where these competitions are taking place.
Westside employee Nick Ein was once again heavily involved in the festival and was part of the winning tug of war team. The Ein brothers were honoured to see their name on the Peter Ein Tug of War memorial plate, which Westside donated to honour their late Father’s memory.
Westside CEO Brendan Madden said the Moura Coal and Country is an incredibly important community event that is a mainstay on the Westside calendar.
“Westside was pleased to sponsor the Festival and support the sporting competitions with trophies and giveaways.
“This year saw the addition of a Netball competition added to the festivities with nine teams taking part”, he said.
“We love seeing the festival evolve each year and look forward to supporting it again next year.”
