Originally founded by the local Apex club, the Moura Coal and Country Festival is an annual, week-long event that has been running for over 48 years, bringing together the local rural and mining community.

Thousands gather from across the Bowen Basin for the event, featuring a series of beloved activities unique to the festival, including bin bucket shovelling and a roof bolting competition.  It also includes school concerts, trade exhibits, market stalls, a side show alley, wood chopping, live entertainment, an animal nursery, a rodeo, festival food and a Gala Ball.
